Product Introduction

Hydrocyclone is a high-efficiency classification and separation device widely used in mining and mineral processing for particle classification, desliming, concentration, and slurry separation.

The slurry enters the hydrocyclone tangentially under pressure, generating a high-speed rotational flow and centrifugal force. Coarser and heavier particles move toward the cyclone wall and are discharged through the underflow, while finer and lighter particles move toward the center and leave through the overflow.

With no moving mechanical parts, the hydrocyclone features a compact structure, continuous operation, and relatively low maintenance requirements, making it suitable for abrasive mineral slurry processing and grinding-classification circuits.

Different cyclone diameters, cone configurations, overflow outlets, spigot sizes, and wear-resistant structures are available according to feed conditions, processing capacity, and required separation particle size.

Hydrocyclone for mineral processing and slurry classification

Working Principle

A hydrocyclone consists primarily of a cylindrical section, conical section, tangential feed inlet, overflow outlet, vortex finder, and underflow outlet.

Slurry is fed tangentially into the cyclone under pressure, creating a strong rotational flow inside the chamber. Centrifugal force drives coarser and denser particles toward the outer wall, where they move downward and discharge through the underflow outlet.

Finer and lighter particles migrate toward the inner vortex and are carried upward through the overflow outlet.

Separation performance is influenced by feed pressure, slurry concentration, cyclone diameter, overflow diameter, spigot diameter, and particle characteristics.
